PeerBlock FAQ Is PeerBlock Safe? In 2007, file sharing enthusiasts from Slyck.com released an article, titled “ MediaDefender Leak Offers BlueTack Users a Reality Check “, in which compared a leaked list of IP addresses of anti-piracy outfit MediaDefender with the Bluetacks list and concluded that only 1,09% of their IPs were on the blocklist.
Hello everyone, I noticed. Peerblock and Iblocklist no longer are really working together. I have had lists open to the public for quite some time now and I am currently finished updating them.
Here are the links to the URLs for PeerBlock if you don't wish to visit my website directly: A very large file containing legitimate companies and business against P2P Containing: 1,137,271,689 IPs This list is either the same list from i-blocklist or it's similar, i cannot remember. Newest list of 2017 (haven't renamed it) of perverts and pedophiles on Omegle.com Containing: 11,120,274 IPs Caught by me 1 by 1 over 1 year. Some false positives by now, but still a good start A Massive file blocking out most of the MiddleEast Containing: 37,001,627 IPs and Ranges All named by their country in the file. Not up to date but Contains: 1046 proxies A list of proxies that have visited any of my websites or projects over 4 years, to be automatically placed on this list my webserver scanned every visitor for 4 years for the open ports. Largest Military/Government/Secret/NSA/CIA list online A list of chaturbate users (so perverts) on a specific username that would catch bad users Containing:41,745 IPsP All lists are free, there is no need to register or visit my site - Simply use the URLs.
Before I got VPN when I was using Bittorrent I would use an IP filter that would block connections with known bad guys. By bad guys I mean people on these lists mainly IP address known to belong to anti P2P organizations, spyware distributors, hijacked IP blocks and botnets. I would load these lists of IP addresses into a program such as which actually does the blocking. Now that I'm with PIA I hadn't been using this, but decided to try it again and noticed a surprisingly high number of attempted connections being blocked while utorrent was running. For example 114.30.72.194 103.12.133.95 109.201.137.162 173.199.65.28 103.12.133.95 121.54.44.90 the last one allegedly belonged to a botnet on Smart Broadband. My question is is there something about the way PIA works that may appear as false positives?

For example often these lists block reserved IP addresses and multicast, does PIA rely on such things to function? What else do other people use to maintain anonymity and security? A vpn service that permits bittorrent traffic, such as PIA, shouldn't have any compatibility issues with any blocklist you're running on your computer. Think of a blocklist as an IP specific firewall.
However, a bittorrent blocklist isn't even as good as that because it's still possible for your blocklist to be rendered ineffective by a monitor who uses passive swarm tracking. In other words a blocklist prevents your bittorrent app from connecting and sharing files with 'known bad guy' IP addresses, but it doesn't prevent a monitoring company from passively seeing that you're connected to a swarm. Furthermore, bittorrent blocklists don't 'block connections with known bad guys.'
They block connections with suspected bad guys. Many of them are indeed bad guys. The problem is that the system isn't perfect and many not-bad guys get put on the list too and stay there far too long, and many bad guys never get put on the list. Blocklists may be somewhat beneficial, but it's hit and miss. Some have argued they're of relatively little practical benefit and can also slow down your network performance.

The worst part of blocklists is that so many people have come to believe that it keeps them safe from bittorrent monitors. The fact is blocklists can be easily circumvented, and there can be many false positives too. I stopped using blocklists long ago and rely instead on vpn. But I know that many people prefer using both and feel it's like a double condom. Just be cognizant of the fact that blocklists are a very leaky condom.
